Microneedling is one of the treatments we're asked about most, and it's now on the menu at The Skin Studio. Ellen is VTCT Level 4 qualified in skin needling, and we use a professional microneedling system with a fresh, sterile single-use cartridge for every treatment. For the right concerns it can be a really effective way to support brighter, smoother-looking skin with a healthier glow. As with everything here, it starts with a proper conversation about whether it's genuinely the right route for you, not just whether it's popular.
Microneedling uses very fine needles to create thousands of tiny micro-channels in the skin, which encourages it to repair and renew itself. Over a course of treatments, that can leave skin looking smoother, brighter and more even.
It's one of the most well-established professional skin treatments, and what we love about it is that it works with your skin rather than masking anything, supporting real, gradual change you can actually see.
We've taken our time bringing it in, training and researching properly, because we only wanted to add microneedling once it genuinely complemented the results-focused, skin-health approach we already take, rather than offering it just because everyone else does.

We agree a plan together
If microneedling is the right route, we'll talk through whether a single treatment or a course suits you better. If it isn't the right route, we'll say so and suggest something that is.

Your treatments are booked directly with Ellen at your consultation, with your £30 deducted. For a course, we'll plan the dates together so the spacing works around your diary.
Microneedling is a versatile treatment, well suited to improving the appearance of a range of common skin concerns.
Like everything here, microneedling starts with a proper consultation and skin assessment. Honestly, the first thing we work out is whether microneedling is even the right treatment for you. For some concerns it can make a real difference; for others there's a better place to start, and we'll always say so. When it is the right choice, it usually works best as a course, with results building gradually as your skin renews.
It also pairs beautifully with Dermalux LED light therapy to keep recovery calm and comfortable, and with Circadia homecare to help you get the most from your results.
Microneedling uses very fine needles to create thousands of tiny micro-channels in the skin, which encourages it to repair and renew itself. Over a course of treatments, that can leave skin looking smoother, brighter and more even.
We most often recommend it for things like uneven-looking texture, enlarged-looking pores, dullness and early signs of ageing, as well as how well your skincare absorbs afterwards. Whether it's right for you really depends on your skin and your goals, which is exactly what we'll work out together at a consultation.
Microneedling works by encouraging your skin's own repair and renewal, so results build gradually rather than appearing overnight. Over a course, people often notice skin looking smoother, brighter and more even, with a healthier glow. Everyone's skin is different, though, and how much difference you see depends on your skin, your concern and your aftercare, which is exactly what we'll talk through honestly at your consultation. We'd never promise a specific outcome, but we'll always be straight with you about what's realistic.
Most people have some redness and warmth afterwards, a bit like mild sunburn, which usually settles within a day or two. We'll give you clear aftercare, and we can pair treatments with Dermalux LED to keep recovery comfortable. We'll confirm exactly what to expect at your consultation.
Microneedling does involve some sensation, but most people find it very manageable, so we don't use numbing cream. It feels like a mild stinging as the device passes over the skin, a little sharper on bonier areas like the forehead. Afterwards your skin will feel warm and look slightly flushed, much like light sunburn, and that usually settles within a day or two. We finish every treatment with Dermalux LED to keep things calm, and we'll always talk you through exactly how it feels at your consultation.
It usually works best as a course, with sessions a few weeks apart, because the results build gradually as your skin renews. Some people need fewer, some more, so we'll map out a realistic plan for you rather than selling you a set number.
Microneedling is £157 for a single treatment, or £397 for a course of three, which is how we most often recommend it since the results build over a course. If we haven't met before, you'll start with a £30 skin suitability consultation, and that £30 is fully redeemable against your treatment or course, so it isn't an extra cost on top. If you're already a client, you won't need one and can book straight in online. We'll only ever suggest a course if it's genuinely right for your skin.
Honestly it's not something we'd recommend doing yourself. Professional microneedling uses sterile, single-use needles and medical-grade equipment, and every treatment starts with a proper skin assessment so we know it's suited to you and safe to do. At-home devices can't offer that, and without understanding your skin, your history and what to avoid, it's easy to cause irritation or infection rather than help. If you're curious about microneedling, come in for a consultation and we'll talk you through what's genuinely worthwhile and safe for your skin.
Microneedling is now on the menu at The Skin Studio. If we haven't met before, you'll start with a £30 skin suitability consultation, which is fully redeemable against your treatment or course. If you're already a client, you won't need one and can book your treatment or course online straight away. Consultations are bookable online too.
